Cafe Visit: Jaizon Coffee in Florence, AL
It's time for another cafe visit. This time, we're heading to Florence, Alabama.
Florence is where I was born, though I didn't stay put for long. Growing up in a military family meant moving around a lot and seeing a variety of lifestyles along the way. Small town living was never really my jam, but I have to admit, Florence has made some real changes over the years.
I came back, after graduating high school, for a couple of years for college at University of North Alabama. Downtown sits right next to campus, close enough to walk, and it definitely has charm. Even with the lack of diversity, the downtown is still cute and worth visiting. It's growing, but it hasn't been overrun, and it still holds onto that small town feel. I may not be the one to live in a small town but I love to visit one.
I no longer live in the area, but I still visit family, and I was shocked by the number of new coffee shops that have popped up. As someone who's constantly visiting local cafes, I had to check them all out.
Today, I want to highlight Jaizon Coffee. This cafe is in downtown, on Seminary Street, and immediately when I walked in, I felt welcomed. I was greeted and they even made conversation with me. Cafes exist for more than just coffee but to also bring people together so when I recognize that intent, I’m all in!
The space is beautiful and they have many options for drinks and food. I ended up getting a few different drinks- a strawberry matcha, caramel latte, and a lemonade (don’t remember the flavor but it was amazing). I also tried a savory item that was so good, I ended up ordering another one on my way out.
As you can see, there's plenty of seating, making it a great spot for groups to meet up. And I didn't even get to the best part yet: they're open to 1opm on weekdays and 1AM on weekends. I love that this gives college students a place to study late, along with entrepreneurs, night owls, and anyone wanting to go out and live a sober lifestyle. Coffee and matcha over liquor is a vibe!
If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend giving them a visit. Since they are downtown, there are several other locally owned shops from boutiques, restaurants, and craft stores in walking distance.
