Blogtober Day 6: Bad days, even for the most whimsical

“Cause ya had a bad day, you’re taking one down…” the song automatically plays in my head.

Yes, even the most whimsical being experiences a bad day.

Some days are just off. It’s the dualities of life ~

I try to be positive but that doesn’t mean you’ll never catch me complaining, upset, mad, or frustrated. There’s been times, I beat myself up over having uncomfortable emotions and experiences. I used to feel like it some how meant I wasn’t a positive or happy person.

  1. two things can exist at once

    • we can feel both upset about something but grateful for our life at large. No matter what the two emotions are, it’s normal to feel multiple things at the same time.

  2. feeling is how we know we’re alive

    • “if you can feel the pain then you know you’re alive” is one of favorite lines in By Any Means, a song by Jorja Smith. It’s true, all of these feelings and emotions are reminders that we are living beings. We are alive. We don’t need to run away from these pains. We can process, move through, honor, and release (because they don’t have to hold us captive either).

Anger can show us rage, passion, and where we need to readjust. When we feel these yucky things, it means we’re alive and it’s signaling to us what may need more love, attention, or even boundaries.

When we resist, it can pull us further away from getting back to peace

Shoving things down, faking the funk, or trying to run the complete opposite way from pain, can actually drag us down deeper. It doesn’t solve much and our problems won’t magically disappear. Instead, they become a ticking time bomb for you and everyone else around you.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by emotion and the weight becomes too much to carry, take the mask off. Take a beat. Pause, and get into your self care toolkit.

Play and process back to your soul, without shame, judgement, or forcing
