Blogtober Day 11: Vendor Event Recap

It happened! I attended my first market as a vendor in Florida over the weekend.

And it rained…

but that was the joy of it. I was so excited to sign up for this particular market. I had been seeing it on my socials then I actually visited in person and loved how community forward it was. From the host to the vendors, and even the venue. It was all amazing.

Then I got a message about the weather predicitions. In that moment I could freak out or I could keep creating my items and trust that I got lead to this point for a reason. I chose the ladder haha. I didn’t freak out like I normally would. I had a few thoughts but kept chugging along and I’m so glad I did. The morning of I had to load up my car in the pouring rain yet I didn’t stop.

I showed up to the market early and once I got everything set up, the rain just got worse.

However, it eventually stopped. People still showed up and even when the power went out, customers started using their flashlights. No one said “let’s cancel” or “this is it, it’s not going to work out.” Everyone, made it work.

The rain showed me the power of community

The rain taught me the power of unshakeable belief.

This was my set up.

I signed up for this event before I was ready. The opportunity came my way and I took it. I made myself ready. And everyday, something new unfolded ~ ways I can make this workout even with a short amount of time. I got creative with the set up. I knew I didn’t have a lot so I leaned into telling my brands story- cozy, vintage, and warm. I made it cute. I thought I would have price tags on each item but to save time, I put a tag on each basket and there was no confusion. Customers came and could clearly see what I offered and the prices. I also thought I would be able to have a folding sign with my business but wasn’t able to get the extra money yet again, I found a solution. This market pushed me to see what I do already have and how I can get crafty with I’ve got!

While this was my first Florida market, it’s not my first in business and it was pretty cool to see how much I’ve grown. This is a new brand so it was also my first pop up with The Hazel Honey Club. I don’t plan to do these too often. I say that then God will be like “you thought" haha.

I did sell some things; I made my vendor fee back and then some. I was so excited about my first sale. If someone stops at my booth and doesn’t buy anything yet has a conversation with me or compliments what I’ve created, I still take that as a win. That fills my heart too. Obviously, I want to sell my stuff but meaningful conversations are just as important to me.

With that being said, I’d still really love to sell everything I made for this event, so I ended up posting about it and getting asked for a link so now these items are also listed on my shop. Right now, for local deliveries. If you don’t purchase but feel called to share, that would mean a lot!

10/10 on this market. I’d do it again. It was a Big Bend Market and they are so amazing. Ask anyone, they’ll tell you the same. Such an amazing thing they’ve built.
