Blogtober Day 4: Starting a Book Log

The little girl in me is freaking out, screaming, and jumping around. I’m starting a book log and I’m stoked! Before I jump into this Book Log and share some books I’ve read and am reading now, let’s share a little history, shall we?

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved reading. My mom and I would go to McDonalds for our little book club and it was so much fun! When I got older, and started having kids I stopped reading as much. I kept telling myself I didn’t have time. Eventually, I started to get back into it, especially when I was trying to grow as a person. I would read nothing but self-help books.

Then, two years ago, after having my son and knowing I would be home a lot I decided to get back to something I really enjoyed, reading fiction books. It’s been amazing to escape into different worlds and tap back into a part of myself.

What I’ve noticed though, is that between moving and giving books away to friends (or little libraries), it’s hard to keep track of everything. And now that I’ve been building a book-ish community where we chat about the books we’re reading (again, the little girl in me screams), I want to have a log! This log is going to be great to frame near all my books or to even bring to book events. Ah, I’m stoked!

Now, I do plan to use this physical book log and my Goodreads app. I love physical things so having both just fits with my lifestyle :) I just got Goodreads so here’s to a night of diving into my book history physically, and digitally *cheers*

If you want a blank copy of the Book Log I made, I got you!

Now, let’s dive into a few books I’ve read and what I’m reading now. This isn’t all of them but some highlights of my fave hehe!

Have Read

Wedding People by Alison Espach

this wasn’t what I was expecting it to be but I loved it! There’s some dark humor in there and it’s listed as contemporary on Goodreads for the genre.

So this is Christmas by Helen Rolfe

this was a very cozy, and heartwarming read ~ it’s romantic but friendship romance and it’s beautiful

Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone

this came in my very first “Blind Date with a Book” and I adored it! It’s about grief and romance.

Currently Reading

Long After We Are Gone by Terah Shelton Harris

Just cracked opened this book because I wanted to read something from a black author. It’s already pulling out some rage! It’s a fiction book about very real things that happen to black neighborhoods, and within families.

Rules for Visiting by Jessica Francis Kane

Honestly, the cover is what spoke to me. It has plants on it and I got it during a library visit. I actually need to turn it in so it’s one I’m prioritizing. It’s about friendship and communication in the digital age.

The Book of Delights by Ross Gay

What a fabulous book! This is a series of essays about delight and what has made each day delightful.

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve read several books at once but it’s hard to pass up a book when I go to the library or I see something on my Kindle that catches my eye. It’s tough! But boy, it sure is a spectacular experience. I love this world of books.

I’d love to hear what you’re reading, and if you have any recommendations! Drop them in the comments!!
