Blogtober Day 2: Honoring Fall
Currently in Maryland where the trees have started to change colors, it’s been raining, and I’m totally feeling the Fall energy. Like most people, this is one of my favorite seasons and being able to enjoy it (even if only for a little bit) on the East Coast, feels extra special.
When I make it back home to Florida, I plan to still honor Fall. I believe we can still sink into this energy in different ways and today I want to share some of those ways with you.
Honoring Fall
through time outside
Nature is one of the best ways I believe we can really soak up each season. When it comes to Autmn, in particular, we can visit local farms to pick sunflowers or visit alpacas. There’s also walking trails and farmers markets to shop what’s in season.
with crafts
Crafting is a fun way to pull in little nodes of seasons change like painting pumpkins, water coloring, creating wreaths, and writing letters to friends. You can make crafts as a therapeutic practice, to decorate your home, and to even make gifts for friends.
with food and drinks
Soups, grains, baked goods… there’s several homecooked meals we can try this season to help bring all the cozy vibes into our life.
through style
While it may be warmer in certain states, we can still bring in those deep greens, oranges, and Navy blues. There’s ways we can style our outfits with a Fall inspiration without wearing a sweater and boots. We can even bring in layer in some funky ways that allow us to be mindful of the weather yet still hit our fashion goals for the season. Don’t forget about little silk scarves you can add to your handbag, hair, shoes, or wear as a belt or necklace!
by slowing down
Inviting a sense of peace and grounding is what I think of when I think of this time of year. I feel we can do that through pausing more to see what’s around us. Through taking our time and not rushing through life. We can read more books, take in longer format content, be present, turn our overthinking off, and meditate. This is the perfect moment to make a self-care toolkit.
In past years, I took a hibernation period where I would deactivate my social media for about two months. It was beautiful, however this year I’m feeling more energized (not called to log off) and finding ways I can be ambitious while still taking my time in life. For me, it’s about tuning into Gods voice.
I’m sure I’ll find another way to hibernate, but in a way that fits my current flow state. Rather it’s changing when I do it, how long I do it for, or what I let go of. In due time, the answers will come. I kind of feel like my intuition heightens throughout Fall time too, probably because I let myself sit still long enough to hear.
Funny thing about seasons is that it reminds us that we can change. We can honor our natural flow of life. There’s a unique way each of us gets nourished for growth. What’s your unique way this season? What do you need? What is your mind, body, and soul craving?
